Clemson makes a comeback against Alabama
Number two ranked Clemson Tigers won the College Football Playoffs Championship game against number one Alabama Crimson Tide.
In last year’s championship game it was Clemson vs Alabama, however Alabama took home the trophy. Clemson had to wait all season to avenge themselves and bring home a “2017 Champions” banner to replace the “2016 Finals” banner.
The previously undefeated Alabama was expected to win, and they were winning for a majority of the game, but after Clemson made a few big plays at the end they came out on top.
Alabama was up the first half of the game, but when their running back Bo Scarbrough got injured, the odds turned in Clemson’s favor. Later it was announced that Scarbrough broke a bone in his right leg. In the last four minutes of the game, Clemson got a touchdown to bring the score to 28-24. At two minutes left Alabama’s quarterback Jalen Hurts ran in a touchdown, putting them in the lead. Then Clemson scored another touchdown with four seconds left, making it 35-31, ending the game, with the championship trophy in their hands.
Clemson gave up two turnovers to the number two defense in the country. Dabo Swinney, the coach of Clemson, is the second person to ever win a national championship as a player and a coach. He won when he played for Alabama in 1992 and now as a coach this year.
For the first time in 28 years, Clemson took home the trophy making this a game to be remembered for years to come.
