For many years, Howell High School has chosen a student that deserves the title, Student of the Week, but there was never a well-formulated structure for the process until the last two years. Ever since then, HHS has constructed an efficient way for students to have the opportunity to claim the honorable mention, plus a notable reward. Throughout the entire school year, the HHS Leadership Program and teachers select a student that the staff believes deserves the honored name of Student of the Week.
Process:
- On Mondays, an e-mail is sent out to all teachers and staff.
- Leadership members update posters of last week’s winner.
- On Tuesdays, a prize for the winner is picked and/or bought.
- Certificates are made for the winner and nominees.
- On Wednesdays, a winner is picked out of a hat by Leadership teacher, Mr. Aaron Metz.
- The final part of the certificates is finished for the winner and nominees. Certificates have a signature from one of the two commissioners and the school principal, Mr. Jason Shrock.
- The Highlander is chosen for that week
- On Thursdays, the Highlander mascot suits up to present the Freshman Campus Student of the Week, and then on Fridays, the mascot awards it to a 10-12 student.
Congratulations to this year’s previous winners for this year, as well.
