Howell High School’s senior counselors, Ms. Amy Starr and Ms. Deborah Solowczuk, are meeting with every senior to go over all of the credits that the student has earned throughout the course of the three years that they have been in high school. The counselors started meeting with students on November 18.
This meeting also pinpoints the credits that the student has not earned due to failing a semester, and provides the student with credit recovery so that they will graduate on time with the rest of their class. Also, the counselors make sure that the student has taken both a Physical Education class and a Health class. If a student wishes to test out of one of those classes, then they will need to fill out a Personal Curriculum form. These forms just state that you’d like to test out of the class but still earn the credit to graduate.
“This meeting is just a way of letting the students know if they’re on the right track for graduation in May. We’re holding the senior audits now to get a jump start and make sure that there are absolutely no surprises for the student at the end of the school year,” says Ms. Starr.
