There is a charity event at Howell High School being hosted by the Leadership class. At every lunch until this Friday, Dec. 15, students will be selling raffle tickets for $1 each. The winner that is chosen will receive a $25 gift card. All of the proceeds will go to the Make A Wish foundation. After the raffle, the Leadership class will also be selling candy grams to give more proceeds to the foundation.
Make A Wish is a charity that grants wishes to children who are diagnosed with life threatening medical conditions. After being founded in 1980, wishes have been granted for more than 200,000 kids. In Michigan, children have received various wishes: their dream pets; royal Sweet 16s; and even meeting the cast of the show Mythbusters. The foundation believes that a wish can be a game-changer for a child so that they can heal.
This is the second year HHS has held a charity for Make A Wish. Taylor Sysol, who is one of the Leadership students organizing the event, says the foundation was grateful for help from HHS.
“We helped them last year and they sent us their packet asking for more help,” she says. “And I love this charity.”
