What People Are Talking About:
Red-Carpet Attire
Of course, clothes are the first detail people notice on the red carpet. Award-winner Kaley Cuoco was one of few ladies to rock a maxi-skirt. This year, it was all about skin. Heidi Klum and Malin Akerman in particular are making headlines for their plunging necklines, and very few critics are admiring their dresses. Anna Faris, Jennifer Hudson, and Nina Dobrev are the ones making everyone’s best-dressed lists.
Ellen Degeneres
Ellen will be adding her 14th trophy from the People’s Choice Awards for Favorite Daytime TV Host to her collection. Among competitors like Rachael Ray and Dr. Phil, Ellen still came out on top.
Frozen vs. Catching Fire
At the end of 2013, fans were shocked when Frozen made more money on opening weekend than Catching Fire did. While Frozen has become a new Disney favorite, it lost to Catching Fire in the Favorite Year End Movie category and wasn’t even nominated for Favorite Family Movie.
Sandra Bullock
The star won the most awards at the ceremony, with four trophies for her work in movies. While her movies Gravity and The Heat both won awards, Sandra Bullock collected awards for Favorite Dramatic movie actress and Favorite Comedic Movie actress.
Jennifer Hudson
Hudson’s speech was the most emotional at the People’s Choice Awards as she received her trophy for Favorite Humanitarian. Hudson created the Julian D. King Gift Foundation that helps children from different backgrounds become productive adults. She talked about the inspiration for her foundation and her hope to help these kids realize that, “There’s more to life than the block you live on.”
