On Monday, May 5, the Howell varsity pompon team began tryouts for next year. The tryouts will continue until Wednesday and the team will be decided before the end of the week.
This past season, the pompon team came in first in the High Kick Competition. They also placed fourth in the state competition. This year, they are looking to keep improving and build on what they have achieved.
“We had a great season and I’m looking forward to working with the incoming freshmen and building our team,” says sophomore Kaylee Hamilton who has been on the varsity pompon team for the past two years.
Howell graduated just two seniors from the team this year: Sarilya Barbaro and Shannon Southerland. The team is looking at another great season with 13 returners, including three seniors.
The varsity pompon team begins practicing before the school year is over for next year already. They will practice and go to camps throughout the summer to prepare for the competitions.
